Our buyers have just returned from the Atlanta gift show and market, with lots of great new items for our store.

From Michel Design Works, triple milled bath bars of palm oil, glycerine, and shea butter are handmade in England. Our new collection will include Grapefruit, Olive Grove, Magnolia, Serenity, and Peach Raspberry. We will also have beautifully decorated glass soap dishes to match. Each soap dish is large enough to hold the 7.3 oz bars. Some of our new fragrances will have luxurious hand and body lotion. Made with shea butter, aloe, and other botanicals, these lotions are perfect for even the driest skin. Don’t you deserve some pampering from Michel Design Works?

Fun plush animals from Jelly Cat. Cordy Roy Aardvark and Cordy Roy Gator. So adorable! Bunnies galore and soft cuddly bears to fall in love with. Olive Owl, from the Mad Bird Collection, will certainly put a smile on your face. We also have Bashful Lilac Hippo and a story book called “If I Were a Hippo.” There’s a Jelly Cat for everyone!

New to Broadway Floral, Maileg. A Danish design, brand of unique and contemporary childrens toys. Sweet bunnies and little mice. Whimsical and fun! They are sure to be a fast favorite with Broadway customers. We’re expecting our first shipment in March.

Butter London, a nailpolish and nail care line loved by people on both sides of the pond, has debuted its Fall 2010 line of colors. Butter London boasts a 3 Free designation, which means the product is free of Formaldehyde, Toluene and DBP, making it one of the few nail care lines that can boast as being non-toxic. The creators of Butter London claim to love “rock & roll, Great Britain and fashion.” Their nailpolish colors exemplify the brand’s vampy, edgy style.

The Fall 2010 batch of nailpolishes come in shades of burgundy, bluish teal, deep purple with a hint of sparkle, taupe and mustard. Their names include Old Blighty, an ode to Great Britain (burgundy), Victoriana, a nod to all things Victorian (bluish teal), Marrow (deep pruple), All Hail McQueen in honor of Alexander McQueen (taupe) and Bumster (mustard).

Aden + Anais is a great line of baby burp cloths, dream blankets, swaddling blankets and sleep sacks. Aden + Anais products are made of a gentle muslin, which is super soft against baby’s skin. The swaddling blankets are a favorite among both customers and employees because of the soft texture, breathable fabric and functionality. While their original use is to swaddle and calm a baby, the swaddling blankets can also double as changing blanket, burp cloth and carseat cover.

The sleep sacks are another shop favorite from Aden + Anais. Made from the same soft muslin, the sleep sacks provide additional warmth and comfort to babies. While parents are discouraged from putting blankets over young babies while they sleep, the sleep sack provides a safe and secure alternative for keeping babies warm during the chilly months.

Aden + Anais products come in fun prints such as stars, stripes and the alphabet. While these products are currently available in store only, they will soon be available to purchase on our website. Nick and Maria planned their Portland, Oregon New Year’s Eve nuptials from their Chicago home with the help of family.  Securing some of the best vendors in town, their party was a night to remember.  This sophisticated Hollywood style wedding featured a silver, midnight blue and white at South East Portland’s Arista Ballroom.

Fritz Photography captured images that are worthy of both fashion magazines and art museum installations.

Maria chose white calla lilies, silver eucalyptus pods, dusty miller, white hydrangea and white feathers for her bridal bouquet.  The alter pieces were created in mercury glass pedestal vases with white oriental lilies, white dendrobium orchids, deep blue bella donna and silver leaves.

It’s rainy and chilly today in Portland so I thought I’d warm your and my spirits with beautiful photos of Tammy Wise and Sean O’Leary’s wedding from August 22nd, 2009.  Sean and Tammy were married on a sunny day at McMeniman’s Edgefield.

Their wedding was inspired by peacock feathers, which informed the color palette of the bouquets and personal flowers that we created. Peacock feathers also made their way into the bride and bridesmaid bouquets as well as hair combs worn by the ladies in the bridal party. Photos by Ashton Photography and Design.

One of our shippers sent us this photograph of the tulips fields in Holland. The photo almost looks airbrushed!

The fields of northern Holland explode into a colourful springtime display. Their dazzling colours are thanks to the years in the 17th century when Tulipmania swept the globe and the most eye-catching specimens changed hands for a small fortune. But like a rainbow, this colourful landscape is a short-lived phenomenon. When the flowers are gone, the land will be cultivated for a rather more mundane crop of vegetables.

We at Broadway Floral are fortunate to have tulips year round. Yellows, oranges and reds in the fall, white and red during December and a full spectrum of colors in the spring. Summertime we see more white and pink for weddings. All locally grown (Oregon, Washington, northern California).

To ensure a beautiful and diverse floral selection here at Broadway Floral we receive a weekly tropical shipment from Kaumana Flowers, a nursery located on the big island of Hawaii. We receive a mixed box of tropical cut flowers including red and green anthurium, pin-cushion protea, yellow oncidium orchids, multi hued mokara orchids, birds of paradise, dendrobium orchids and an everchanging selection of tropical greenery.

Displayed in clear glass vases inside the shop our tropical section always attracts shoppers with its vibrant colors and unsusual textures. These flowers can be arranged to create a beautiful tropical confection or added to local and seasonal cut flowers in a bouquet or vase arrangement.
