Clustering, also known as grouping flowers by type, is a beautiful way of reinventing the vase arrangement. A fresh take on floral design, clustered arrangements showcase each season’s most beautiful offerings. Clustering flowers such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, lilies and hydrangeas ( just to name a few) create a modern presentation for the sophisticated flower lover.

This type of arrangement can either be monochromatic or shown with blocks of color. Single colored or monochromatic arrangements exude simplicity and elegance. Colorfully clustered vase arrangements are joyful and casual.

Typically three to five different flowers are used in each presentation and are often arranged in shorter vases to create a more compact design. Shown here are beautiful examples of Broadway Floral’s clustered arrangements.  Any of our talented designers can also create a custom clustered vase arrangement with your favorite flowers.

Lately the weather has turned cold and the rain once again has returned to Portland. Some of you may know our shop dog, Cassius, a loving and gentle German Shepherd mix.  He works at the shop during the week and loves the attention that customers give him.  In honor of human’s best friends, we’ve dedicated a spot in the store to cats and dogs.  There are many ornaments to choose from or select a beautiful picture frame or the useful doggie dryer.

With the cold weather approaching, ditch the old anything goes in the Northwest stocking cap and get stylish with one of these great hats.  Pair a new hat with a pea coat or button down jacket and boots.  We’ve got hats for both women and men in a variety of shapes.  The only trouble with trying them on, is that you’ll want more than one!

Momiji dolls are the new rage for sending special messages.  Consider Momiji the new text message. Instead of sending it through your phone, a secret message paper is hidden in what appears to be a wooden doll.  Click on the photos to see a larger image.  Dolls are approximately 3″ tall.

Don’t rot your teeth with candy this Halloween!  Pick up a few of these treats that will entertain for hours after the sugar rush has worn off.  Make some chilling ice cubes with the “Bone Chillers” skull and cross bones ice cube tray.  Use juice or food coloring for added excitement as these cubes keep your beverage cold.

And some things for the little tikes….Ugly Doll’s Ice Bat and Ugly Ghost are perfect gift for Halloween.  A plundering pirate card game, Loot is another great way to entertain a crowd.  Can you even resist the pirate beanie?  It’s perfect for the cold weather and the Portland Pirate Festival that happens each fall.

On October 16th the story of Where the Wild Things Are comes to life on the big screen!  Maurice Sendak’s popular children’s book has inspired a movie directed by Spike Jonze.  The talented star of this new movie, Max Records, is from Portland.  

Venture into this wonderful world of “wild things” with a copy of the book.  If it’s not already one of your favorite stories, it will be soon.  This is a story for everyone at any age. Tell the story with a “wild thing” puppet or a small plush doll.  We also have a large floor puzzle, perfect for children’s rooms.

Back by popular demand!  These bug accessories are a little spooky, if you ask me.  “Are those real?” customers ask us and the enthusiasm varies depending on the employee.  You may hear, “Yes! Aren’t they cool?” or “Uh, yes…a little creepy, huh?”  Some people love them, and others, like myself have a difficult time looking at them from across the room.

I pretended to forget my fear of these bugs and photographed them for your viewing pleasure.  Necklaces, key chains and paperweights are available, but they won’t last long.
